Getting KiCAD designed PCBs manufactured with OSH Park
29 October 2012¶
Like my page for Notes: Seeedstudio Fusion PCB & KiCAD this will be the equivalent for OSH Park.
Although the instructions recommend using their file naming scheme I'll try the default KiCAD output first as they also say "Our site tries it's best to identify Gerber output from a large number of PCB design packages".
I am slightly concerned about the "at least 15 mil clearances from traces to the edge of the board" rule--wonder if that applies to pads as well? (Given I've got a pseudo edge connector in my design.)
Also note that the board outline is a separate file.
Well, everything went through okay with the default KiCAD Gerber file names and edge connector. So, yay.
Ordering process is pretty slick with previews of expected result etc. Spotted a couple of superficial issues with the silkscreen but will ignore them for now.
Payment is a PITA (same as Seeed).
Nice that you don't have to set up an OSH Park account to order.
That was quick: "Your Reaction Tester PCB v 20121029A boards are on the October 31st 2 layer panel."
(Apparently it didn't make the earlier 29th one. :) )

Just got an email saying "We've received the panel containing your boards from the fabricator. We expect to have the boards depanelled and shipped out some time in the next few days."
Not long after I got another email saying "Your Reaction Tester PCB v 20121029A boards are on their way!". w00t!

I was expecting my Seeedstudio order today but in fact my OSH Park one turned up!
So, that's impressive, a fraction over two weeks from order to delivery.
