OSCON 2011: Get Started with the Arduino workshop by follower

Get Started with the Arduino - A Hands-On Introductory Workshop (workshop notes)

General information

Feedback from last year
  • "I’m glad I decided to attend the Arduino tutorial this year. I’ve just picked up yet another hobby I don’t have time for." (via)

Before you arrive

  • To get the most from the workshop you will need an Arduino & small parts kit. You can either purchase a kit in advance (see the information on the workshop details page on the OSCON site) or a limited number will be available for sale at the workshop. The kits for sale include the necessary breadboard, LEDs, resistors, button and jumpers required for the workshop in addition to a number of other parts useful for your own exploration.

  • While we will cover the installation process during the workshop you might prefer to install the Arduino software (see below in the "installation" section of the resource links) onto your laptop before arriving. This will help you get onto the fun part of playing with hardware faster. Pre-workshop installation is particularly recommended if you have a Linux-based system.
